Teaching Philosophy

Range is Pilates, functional movement, strength, mobility, cathartic release and restorative work but my goodness, those just look like words on a page. For the last 10 years, I have been observing how humans move around the world and how our individual lived experiences, traumas, medical histories, environments, friendships, career paths (and onward) shape us into the people that we truly are - opposed to an idyllic version of ourselves that the movement industry has marketed to us. I am simply one human living in one body. I am your guide, but I am also your equal. My teaching style blends the influences of science, art and the natural world so that you feel informed and empowered but also invites you to have complete autonomy of your own shell. This is what makes Range undoubtedly unique. We learn about our systems, we lead with intuition, we listen to our internal conversations, and we release ourselves into movement freedom that supports us for decades to come.

My own body and viewing other’s in space are my greatest teacher’s but in order to tap into that power, I gathered and continue to gather information from others. I’d love to extend a thank you to the worlds of STOTT Pilates, Functional Range Conditioning, Dr. Sarah Duvall, Matt Phippin, Tom Myers, Dr. Perry Nickelston, NASM and beyond for providing learning environments that keep us curious.

Whenever someone asks me what Range feels like, images flood my brain. Some of these are from my own heart but many are what you’ve shared with me.

Range feels like….

Warm sourdough with butter; comforting and delicious

That first sip of coffee in the morning; energy flowing through the veins

A warm wool sweater; toasty and safe

Jumping into the ocean; invigorating and cleansing

Climbing up a mountain; strong and capable - sometimes breathless

Dancing underneath moonlight; wild and free

Walking into your home; it’s where you want to be

A coyote howling; a cathartic release

Sweat on the brow; salty and well accomplished

A hug; need I say more

On Range, we spiral, lift, hinge, pulse, rotate, lean, sweat, soften into a resilient and capable body. We also laugh, wear sweatpants and don’t take ourselves too seriously. Range invites us to be comfortable and safe while on our quest.

We crave a space where we feel represented, seen, valued and heard. I understand this wholeheartedly which is why there is such a vast range of humans here. This list could go on for miles but there’s a common theme among us - we all crave a movement environment that allows us to embrace who we truly are.

So, who bonds with Range?

Those who seek connection to both self and others
Those who wish to rewrite dangerous narratives that they’ve felt trapped by
Those who are yearning for the space to explore and be wild
Those who are tending to their present selves
Those who are preparing for their future selves
Those who wish to create a balance of both strength and softness
Those who recognize that we are constantly in a state of evolution

The movement industry has been trying for decades to fit us inside of a mold that feels both inaccessible and exclusive. Range is a rebellion to this concept.

Range is a place to land as you are, embrace yourself, and evolve without limits.

Since the beginning, creating an accessible, inclusive environment has been my north star. This is reflected in all of our language as well as the pricing structure. Range holds tremendous value. With over 1,000 classes and 3 Livestreams per week, I created the price structure to be both respectful of my own energy while being sustainable for you. However, what would be the point of creating an inclusive movement environment if it wasn’t also inclusive of all budgets? Emails are met with quick responses, open arms and a complete lack of judgment - always. Nobody has ever or will ever be turned away.

If you are currently receiving financial assistance and find that your financial situation shifts to a point that you can return to our stated monthly pricing, please email me. As a one woman small business, I sincerely appreciate this consideration.

The Spiral is an ancient symbol symbolizing evolution, life cycles, growth, continuity, constant change - to name a few. For years, this symbol has been our guide on Range and appears in endless ways. Most notably, I complete each class with a spiraled hug to symbolize love, self respect, expansion, and an invitation to the next cycle of your day.

On March 13th 2020, I found myself without a job as the world shut down due to the Covid 19 pandemic. My now husband, Ben, said to me “why don’t you try teaching on IG Live?”

The rest was history. For the next 7 months, I taught 4 classes per week via Instagram and welcomed friends from every continent besides Antarctica. It became obvious that collectively, we were craving a permanent movement home. Range launched on October 1st, 2020 and together we have been shifting, growing and expanding the platform ever since.

Range was born during a tremendously dark time in human history and I am honored to be apart of a light that was born from darkness.

Interested in trying a class out before you commit to your Free Trial? Without an ounce of commitment, Open Range is a small grouping of classes that are available to the public.
