High Summer in Vermont Retreat

High Summer in Vermont Retreat

After a few years of focusing energy on hosting retreats in various parts of the country, the UK, and Europe, it feels so right to be spending the high summer right here in Vermont. Together, we will cultivate an experience that is as bountiful for the body + soul as the season itself.

Join me for an intimate 3 night/4 day Retreat that embraces the bountiful  spirit and verdant beauty of late August in the Green Mountain state. During our time together, we will be moving intentionally, eating locally, and resting + laughing plentifully alongside new friends. With only 9 attendees, this allows us the space to truly connect with each other and the land that will house us.

Our chef for the weekend is my dear friend, Vilda Gonzalez, who will be joining us from the Hudson Valley. Vilda cares deeply about where she sources our food from and creates hearty and nourishing meals that make everyone’s bellies and heart feel so full (if you like radicchio, you’re in the right spot.)

In addition to our daily movement classes  (all levels and experiences welcomed) we will be spending our time exploring local trails, welcoming Claire Keith of Elements Aligned for a watercolor workshop, and taking a trip to Fable Farm for wine tasting and pizza.

I cannot wait  to witness the magic unfold as we gift ourselves the time to truly let ourselves unwind, re-wild and bask in the sunshine, together.  Please scroll down for more details!

Leading Fields
August 20-23rd, 2026

Leading Fields is a mid 1800’s farmhouse located on 186 acres in the heart of Woodstock, Vermont. Do you know the feeling of walking into a home and you can immediately feel the soul of the space greet you? Leading Fields was owned by renowned sculpture artist, Barbara Kaufman, and every detail fills its guests with warmth, comfort, and the permission to make yourself right at home. The property is vast and houses the sculpture art that Barbara created there for many decades. In addition to the home, the property welcomes its own trail system named after the beloved horses of her late daughter, and a pond for swimming.

Though all under one roof, there are 3 structures of the home. The main house sleeps 6. The annex sleeps 4. We will be doing our movement classes in a connected greenhouse that is covered in plants and was once Barbara’s pottery studio!

My friends, I am humbled by how quickly every single one of my Range Retreats has sold out. Here on Range, it is very important to me that I cultivate an environment that is fair and doesn’t induce unnecessary stress. I recognize that setting an alarm and feverishly entering your credit card information creates quite the opposite experience - so I would love to experiment with something new.

Inspired by The Lost Kitchen in Freedom, Maine—I will be collecting postcards, handwritten notes, small pieces of art, anything that feels like a genuine expression of yourself. Within your piece of snail mail, I would love to hear about you and why attending this Retreat feels aligned. This is not a test and is supposed to be brief, I would just love the opportunity to get to know you through your art, writing, individual form of creative expression!

SNAIL MAIL MUST HAVES

Though you can send me anything you’d like (normal post, packages will not be accepted!) there are a few “must do’s”

1. Please include the email address, in clear writing, that you’d like to me to contact you with. I will also be generating a waitlist from the emails received.

2. Please include your desired room selection with clear language that reflects the room descriptions that I offered. If you are comfortable with any or all, please clearly note that in a way that is easy for me to interpret. If you only want to be considered for ONE room type, just write the single room type. Please note, being open to any room type does not give you an advantage! For example….

- First Choice: Main House / Queen Single, Shared Bathroom
- Second Choice: Annex / Queen Shared, Shared Bathroom

MAILING PROCESS

Mail must be received by April 8th and sent to….

Kara Duval, PO BOX 391, Woodstock VT, 05091

MY SELECTION PROCESS

My friends, I genuinely want you to know that I will be selecting from an unbiased place just like selecting from a deck of cards! I will be creating separate piles as they come in and making selections the weekend of April 11th. Those whose cards I have pulled will be contacted with a private registration link on Sunday April 11th. You will have 24 hours to complete the registration link before I move onto the waitlist. If you plan to send in a card, I strongly recommend setting an alarm or an alert on your calendar for April 11th! Additionally, due to the pace of the USPS I would create and send your card as soon as you can!

Vilda & Our Meals

About Vilda

Vilda Gonzalez is a chef and recipe developer. Her work takes many forms, from cooking  private dinners, to feeding big groups on retreat, developing recipes for brands, teaching  cooking classes, and advocating for more sustainable local food systems. She believes  that food can be delicious, flavorful, and indulgent, as well as nourishing and inherently  healthful. Her mission is to rewire our collective relationship to what eating well truly  means, through the lens of seasonality, sensuality, and storytelling.

NOTE FROM VILDA

There is little I love more than the repetitive act of feeding others. A lavish dinner is  lovely, but the cumulative impact of feeding someone meal after meal - each prepared  with great attention to detail and the intention of leaving you feeling truly nourished - is  what satiates my own appetite. Most of us have forgotten how to romance ourselves  regularly, and move through the mundane responsibility of feeding ourselves breakfast,  lunch, dinner, repeat without the necessary spark needed to make something good taste  great. It is my hope that after a long weekend of meals shared together, prepared by me  for you, you not only feel the profound cellular impact of delicious care in your body, but  that this feeling of satiety, connection, and satisfaction can linger with you long enough  to reignite the spark you need to feed yourself with inspired commitment in your own  kitchen. Deliciousness and nutritiousness should go hand in hand. Pleasure is your  superpower!

Each morning will begin with movement and a small, nutrient dense bite for those who  need something sustaining to kick start their day. After class, a lavish brunch will be  served. Think: lacy chestnut crepes with salted butter and honeycomb, jammy eggs and  toasted bread, regional cheeses and preserves, seasonal vegetables and lots of beans, of  course. When afternoon comes rolling about, there will be tea and treats, fresh and  crunchy vegetables, seasonal fruits, and savory snacks to carry you into the evening.

Dinners will be served family style with the best the season has to offer, and each night  will close with a gluten and refined sugar free dessert.

Please note that all dietary restrictions are considered. Due to the age of the home and the fact that this is not a commercial kitchen, we cannot guarantee the risk of cross contamination for extremely severe allergies.
